Srinagar / Kanpur, Oct 29:
Reports circulating on social media and some news outlets claiming that the Class 11 student who died by suicide in Kanpur was related to Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha have been found to be unauthentic and misleading.
Initially, a few news outlets and social media users claimed the deceased was the grandson of the Lieutenant Governor. Later, the same reports were modified to describe him as a relative and then a distant relative. However, no such relation exists, and no official or police confirmation supports these claims.
The deceased, identified as Arav Mishra, a student of Jain International School, was found dead at his residence in the Kohna police station area on Monday. Police confirmed the recovery of a suicide note and said an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the tragedy.
Authorities in Kanpur have clarified that the police have not mentioned any family connection between the student and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in their statements or records.
Officials have urged the media and public to refrain from spreading unverified information, stressing that such reports cause unnecessary confusion and add distress to the grieving family.
The investigation into the incident continues, and further details will be shared by authorities once verified.
