Srinagar, Oct 17: On a mission of profound cultural and spiritual significance, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, is leading a delegation to Kalmykia, Russia, to bring back the sacred relics of Lord Buddha after their week-long exposition.

The relics, originally brought from India, are currently enshrined at the renowned Geden Sheddup Choikorling Monastery in Elista, the largest Buddhist monastery in Kalmykia. Shri Sinha paid obeisance at the holy shrine, praying for universal peace, harmony, and the strengthening of the spiritual bond between people across nations.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity, the Lieutenant Governor thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for entrusting him with this revered responsibility. ā€œI pray to Lord Buddha to bless us all and guide humanity towards compassion, unity, and mutual respect,ā€ he said.

During his visit, Shri Sinha is also scheduled to interact with Batu Sergeyevich Khasikov, Head of the Republic of Kalmykia, the Head of Buddhists in the region, Shajin Lama, senior monks, and devotees.

The visit, officials said, not only marks a sacred journey but also deepens India’s enduring cultural and spiritual ties with Kalmykia, where Buddhism has a centuries-old presence.
