GANDERBAL, October 16, 2025 — The Department of Political Science, Government Degree College (GDC) Ganderbal, in collaboration with the District Administration Ganderbal, organized a One-Day Awareness Programme on the Three New Criminal Laws of India.

The event was hosted by Lt. Dr. Salma Khan, who welcomed the guests and participants. Prof. Fouzia Fatima, Principal of the College, delivered the inaugural remarks, stressing the significance of legal literacy and the active role of students in spreading awareness about the newly enacted laws.

The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Khurshid Ahmad Khan, Senior Prosecution Officer, Sessions Court Ganderbal, who provided an in-depth overview of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA)—the three new legislations that have replaced the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and Indian Evidence Act (IEA) respectively.

Speakers from the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal and Government Girls Higher Secondary School Ganderbal also shared their perspectives, highlighting the citizen-centric reforms, victim protection mechanisms, and provisions for transparency and speedy justice embedded in the new legal framework.
